So final tally on the “Lavender“ ameraucanas: two blue and one black! I think the breeder may have pulled the eggs from the blue/black/splash pen instead of the lavender/black lavender split pen! Oh well they are cute nonetheless I love their little owly faces!😍 See some of you in the June...

I am hatching blue eggs as well, and they are harder then Marans to see anything. I just went by weight for the most part and weighed them altogether, then divided by number of eggs to get an average weight and plotted that weight on the graph. I almost culled one of the eggs when the individual...

You know you are old when you have to explain what "shrink to fit" jeans are and tell the "youngsters" about the time that phones were mounted on the wall with a cord attached!:)

So the much addled and saddled ameraucana eggs have the first external pip! :celebrateIt is egg number 11, that almost got culled 4 or 5 times during incubation, as I could not see any progress, but I kept putting it back in as I was not sure. These are blue eggs and VERY hard to candle. Goes to...

Great choices! I can see why this incubating and hatching chicks is so addictive! How awesome seeing the little critters come out of the shell! I also love the cream leg bars, they are so pretty and they lay those gorgeous light blue eggs😊

It will float due to the air cell. You have to wait until the water movement from placing the egg in it in stops and then see if there’s any movement. It has likely passed. Your call if you want to cull it now or wait a few more days. please post photos of your little fluffed up chicks that made...

Update on my little Marans chick. She is doing great, I can’t tell her apart from the others anymore that’s how well she’s doing! Photo attached shows how well she stands up now! Walking just fine though she is a little slower than the others but I expect her to catch up. She is a black version...

I just tossed the one silkie egg that did not hatch here on DAY 24. I was 99% sure it was dead, no movement when I candled it, but gave it a few days anyway. It never pipped. Did the float test on it today, it did not pass. There are different schools of thought, but if you can give it a few...
