Okay. Thank you. I agree that the injury was probably a fight with a hen who wanted to lay, so I will give her wet mash. Is there any at the feed stores, or should I make it myself?
Yay! :)! I'm going to keep an eye on her, though. If she needs help, she'll get it (my dad will let me take her to a vet, I believe, after a bad experience with a duck. The duck is okay, but seriously upset) immediately. Thanks!
Thank you so much!
I'm glad that it's probably not life-threatening.
The symptoms are grayish face, bloody comb, and looks a little hunched (but that might have been my imagination). Also, she's staying in the coop a lot, but it might be because she loves sitting on everybody's eggs.
She doesn't seem as though she's low on the pecking order, but I haven't been specially keeping an eye on that, so I'm not sure I know.
I asked. Unfortunately, my dad won't let me weigh her, or take her to the vet. I really don't know what to do!
What could it be, aside from getting pecked? 😟...
Thank you all for replying.
Why would the chickens peck her, though?
I haven't checked her for lice and mites. I probably should have done that hours ago though, but I'm not really sure how.
I'm not sure how much she weighs, but I would like to know how... and if she would be okay with being...
I'm not allowed to say where I live on the Internet, sorry. Thank you for asking.
Aside from vets, do you have any ideas of what could be up with the hen? And if it does seem like sickness, what sickness?
Does she look like she'll survive, though? Should I get her to a vet? Did she get in a fight? Or is it just old age? 😟 (I'm sorry about all the questions. I'm worried about her.)
Sorry, I can't answer all of these, but I'll try.
She's very old. I don't know how old, but the age is why I'm worried. I'm scared she's on her last legs.
We've never worried about worms much before, because no chickens in our coop have really shown many symptoms of sickness.
An extra calcium...
I haven't seen her leave the coop at all today. I haven't been checking on her specially before I noticed, which was today, so I don't really know when/if she's been leaving lately.
In the nesting box, probably. She stopped laying a while ago, but she sits on the eggs a lot.
And I don't think...
I'm not sure if I can get pictures on here. I can try on my mom's computer, but it still probably won't work :(. I'll try though. Does it sound like my hen is in trouble?
Hi. I'm not sure if this is actually something to worry about, but one of the pair of old hens of my flock is looking weird. Her head looks like the neck is barely there, and her face is grayish, her tail feathers look messy and there's a bit of blood on her comb. She's also been in the coop for...
