They are dependent on you for food that’s why it’s important to wean them off making them a little hungry so they start looking for food. I’d think in the next couple of weeks they’ll be flying around. Then next year mama may come back and you’ll be doing it all over again :hugs:)
Do they also forage? Maybe start cutting back on their feed gradually so they aren't just stopped cold turkey. They look great and they will practice flying over the next few weeks. Then they may leave. Last year a member rehabbed some Wood ducklings and when time for them to leave they flew off...

Just what I was going to say @thumper650 it's rough being a mama duck in the wild I guess that is why they hatch so many so at least a few make it to adulthood.
I have a Bushnell and it takes pics when it picks up motion. It was pricey back when i bought mine but like @MasterOfClucker said you can pick them up for around 40.00 on Amazon.
Can you set up a game camera? if you don't have one maybe someone you know would that way you can see what is coming around at night.
Listen we have coyotes walking around in NY city so don't estimate where your predators are they are sometime in more populated areas than rural. A Hawk...
A Mallard at 2 weeks most likely isn't very large since they are small ducks to begin with. A fox feeding her young may have killed one and then another and carried both off. I am not sure if both parents feed their kits or not. And the rest were just hanging out as usual? What other predators...
Thing is you don't always know the rats are there. They'll be fine with out food during those hrs I mean you can leave the water I just wouldn't leave feed.
Just make sure nothing else can get into the poison. I can't put out poison because I have dogs who will eat anything. Plus my ducks and chickens will eat mice and if they have poison in them then the ducks and chickens are also eating it. I other words be very careful using poison. The black...
Do not leave your feed out at night. I have been having a problems with wood rats. They haven't been getting into their feed in the daytime but hanging out under the bird feeders for the wild birds. We managed to trap 4 and now they won't go near the traps so were actually waiting for the black...
I have seen quite a few videos of kind people helping mama ducks and her duckling make it safely to a body of water through traffic off of high buildings etc. it’s amazing where these mama ducks make their nests.
