Welcome, what part of the country are you in. I know a lady in seq who has blue/black silkies. I do not know what a speckled Silkie looks like.
Good luck.
You could ask over on the other Aussie thread - It is more active "Australia - six States .. and that funny little island "
Hey, I'm in Brisbane. Welcome. What chooks do you have? i have australorps and barnevelders atm. I'm also hatching a mixed bag of auracauna, Easter eggers, Marans, dbl barred rocks and Sussex to increase my flick after loosing most this year to illness, accident and fox.
Most people hang on...
Sorry AB, I did not hear your distress call.
How is she now.
My Silkie has done the same thing. She laid one shelless - nearly all yolk and another very thin egg while on the roost. I do not know when but she was not hopping down off the perch every day and was quite lethargic I was really...
No I don't but I know someone in Caboolture who does sometimes I don't know if she posts or if you want posted. Let me know if you can't find any and I'll PM you the details.
Well as time is getting away and my jobs list gets longer, I'm taking this moment to wish you all a very Merry Christmas.
Please stay safe.
I hope everyone with sitting hens or full incubators get lots of healthy squeakers.
Cheers to all.
I can visit these guys too. I do have a guy that takes my roosters for the table but I try and find homes when I can for the nice boys. I do really like this Welsummer. Not only that, despite acting grown up he was still small the chicks from the same hatch are still squeaking.
Sometimes eggs just get broken too. Here's hoping you get more than one:)
I just got rid of two roosters from my last hatch. 11 & half weeks and the Welsummer crowed this morning. A very recognisable good strong crow. Then it mounted my Maran. Bye bye sad to say. He is a nice boy but I can't...
Don't talk to me about clucky chooks.
Fraidy (Australorp) and Silkie (Silkie) are 1 year old. They haven't had an adult moult. They lay 12 eggs and go clucky. Two - three days to break, a week plus to start laying again, lay twelve eggs and go clucky again.
So I tried the give them a clutch...
Hi, to all new posters and welcome.
I'm in north Brisbane. I have 2 each of Australorps and Barnevelders, 1 super chook of unknown variety, 1 Silkie and 1 Wheaten Maran. Then I have 9 chicks - 2 cuckoo and 2 splash Orpington, (1 of each colour is a roo), 3 Welsumers (1roo), 1 Auracauna (acts...
