    Whenever you think the egg has gone long enough, you should do an eggtopsy to confirm this. After my mistake, I started using separate calibrated hygrometers, & thermometers in my incubator.

    Never, water candle any eggs that are close to hatching. The chicks can drown if there's any hole in the eggshell.

    I've accidentally drowned chicks in their eggshells with excessive humidity when first starting out, so it's possible.

    Are you candling the correct end? Is there a chick peeping in the shell?
