I got a new pen finished yesterday, and this batch has been moved into it. It's a bit crowded, but only until I "find home" for the extra boys. I've already sold six hens out of this batch and have an order for six more as soon as I figure out which of the remaining birds are girls. I know...
There will be less crowding in about a week when I can start telling the hens from the roos. The guy who bought 20 of my birds in December wants a dozen more hens.
They're getting crowded, so I moved the shrimpies to a smaller container. I did lose one that I found flattened in a corner when I went to clean today. :-(
There are 6 or 7 of those in this batch. I really like them too.
Edit: I think that grey one may be one of the two that hatched from my home grown eggs.
I know. I have an absolute top limit of 6 cats, but my old roommate had two. When he passed away I wasn't going to get rid of his cats. They'd just lost their person, they weren't going to lose their home too.
I looked and listened, but if it got loose in my house, it's cat food. There are seven cats in this house.
Edit: I even poked through all of the shavings in case it had died and gotten buried somehow.
Maybe, but... how? It wasn't locked down because the heatlamp was still in there with the handle sticking out, but it wasn't open enough for a chick to get out even if it could get that high. I'm confused. Maybe I'll blame the soon to be ex roommate.
