How are your babies?! You need to post pics! I realized today that my phone has over 2000 pictures and they're almost all of chickens. I think I have a problem.
Slimy Bob is great. He's a naughty boy but we love him and he's so beautiful! He is by far the most curious and friendly of all the baby chickens we've ever had.
Here's singleton, Zippy, an absolute doll of a chick. Wants nothing more than to be with you. Loves his Titan Silkie friends, but...
Only the Serama looks stubby-legged to me.
Slimy Bob was our very first hatch and my 7 yo son named him after watching him hatch. I know silkies are very difficult to sex but I am pretty sure he is a boy. He is HUGE next to the others. This is him next to his sibling, not the Serama.
This is...
So... I'm guessing you're saying DONT get the $80 brooder? Lol I was this close too, but was waiting on what you thought about it. I guess I'll be looking some more. That's too bad because it looks cute and convenient. I guess you're probably better off building something yourself. If I do that...
Thanks you guys. At least I know I'm not alone! Lol He eats fine, drinks, poops, all that. I feel like he could eat more... But then he'd have twice the energy for yelling! My husband and I were laughing. After putting him in the brooder for the night, we were laying in bed listening to him like...
The Silkies are not amused at the loud new guy.
The Silkie is giving the Serama the same look I'm getting from the general public for having a chicken in my shirt as I run errands.
So, idk if this is normal to his breed, or if something is wrong, but, he NEVER. STOPS. PEEPING. Unless.... You're holding him. And it has to be a certain way. I'm not kidding. My entire family, to include kids and OTHER animals are all looking for excuses to leave the house bc of the noise. I...
Well, it's been about 6 hours and he's actually coming along! I can't believe it. He's wobbling along, hollering I think because he's all by himself in there. I want to make sure everything is good and well before I put him in with my scary Silkies. Lol
I was looking at something like this one, bc I need something to look "cute" (less like a chicken coop) in my living room, but easy to clean would probably be better. And I really like the one you got. I bet I could paint it to match my decor... I saw a full sized coop that was black, kind of...
Funny thing about the Serama... Today I went to toss the quitters and I have a pip and a peep! Probably the LAST thing I expected today was a lone survivor in the "probably dead" row in my incubator. My first Serama at last! He's looking like he's an all yellow chick. Come on little guy!
Well, we tried making splints out of band aids, vet-wrap, pipe cleaners, everything and she just face plants and cries. We are feeding her scrambled egg with yogurt and sav-a-chick via syringe every couple of hours, but she is not getting better at all. We don't really know what to do at this...
Thank you! We have the vet wrap, but none of what we've done looks as nice as those! Lol Their little feet are so hard to maneuver, especially when they're so wiggly!
