I'll look into that. We just got the pool last summer and it was new so we hadn't any water problems. This year is the 2nd year and we're in a major learning curve.
Yes we go to Leslie's. IDK if you have them there. They test and say it's not too bad but we do have to change the cheesy filter quite often. All reviews say that the filter that comes with this is really not a high quality filter.
Yes, you hit the nail on the head with this answer. Yes, it will have to be at least partially above the water level of the pool. That makes it a pain.

You're going to have to figure out a way (and there are many) to keep the pump 'relatively' free of debris. You can sit it up on a big flat rock in the bottom of the tank to keep it from sucking dirt. You absolutely can fashion some kind of cage (filter) to go around it, or sit over it, so that...
