Ran out of duck food can I feed just corn

Oops, I forgot that you can get the anerobic environment with enough water, and ducks like to spread water around. Thank you for pointing that out. Yes, I agree that they need real duck food. But they may have been able to type messages at times they could not go to the store. I...

Ran out of duck food can I feed just corn

Botulism is pretty unlikely. The toxin only forms when the bacteria grow somewhere without oxygen-- and anything exposed to the aie has enough oxygen that it's not a problem. I agree that mold could be a concern, but mold usually requires several days to develop. Most foods, even moist ones...

Ran out of duck food can I feed just corn

I would try to leave some available to the ducks for now, because they might eat it after they think about it for a while. That goes for anything that you think might be good for them right now, that they currently do not want to eat. Some kinds of animals will try just a bite or two of a new...

Ran out of duck food can I feed just corn

The animal-grade corn is probably better for the ducks, if they will eat it. Corn for people is usually bred to have more sugar, and is harvested at a younger age to also have more sugar. More sugar might make it taste better to us, but it will not be healthier for the ducks ;)

Ran out of duck food can I feed just corn

Do you have a source for that? I've given cat food to other animals before (great source of protein!), so I'd really like to understand what risks could be involved.

Ran out of duck food can I feed just corn

The obvious way to find out: offer both and see. Having "too much" of one or the other for a day or two won't be very bad for their health, and by then it should be obvious whether they are eating both or just one. I would offer it dry first (because wet food spoils faster than dry), but I...

Ran out of duck food can I feed just corn

I was just going to suggest that :) I would not try to mix the corn and the cat food. Just put them in separate dishes and let the ducks choose how much of each to eat. And yes, fruits & vegetables are a good idea too.
