So far it hasn't grown back, but if it does it will probably be awhile. He doesn't act any different than before though. Sorry about your bird. Hope he does ok!
Yes, he's a special bird. He follows me everywhere and wants all of the attention. He loves being with people and being held and petted. He acts more like a dog than a chicken.
@Pastel The Rooster
Oreo is still doing great! His beak doesn’t seem to bother him at all. He's very excited when I feed him in the morning. Oreo is able to eat his normal food now and has no problems foraging.
I was able to get a lot of the blood off, but Oreo (the rooster) decided he was done. I soaked his feet in Epsom salt. I put on triple antibiotic cream and wrapped it. I tried to get some on his face, but couldn't hold him still, even with 2 people.
Oreo has eaten a lot since this morning...
He took a few bites of the mash this morning and then he was done. He doesn't really like to eat when I'm watching though. He didn't want to drink out of a bowl, but drank a lot out of a nipple waterer. This morning I noticed that he also ripped off one of his toenails.
I'll try to get him to eat a mash, but he is a really picky eater.
I have him separated. He doesn't like other birds, and I already have another roo with my hens. This roo free ranges. He loves people though. He really loves being petted and doesn't mind being held.
