Honestly, it's not really different at all from the mobile version of the site on a mobile web browser. In time we'd like to add more functionality to it, but it will probably never be super different.
The BYC apps don't have the push-notifications setup yet, so all notifications will only show up once you are logged onto BYC and open the app (i.e., not pushed outside of the app to your phone).
We hope to add this in the future.

Unfortunately the software developers don't provide an API to allow for push notifications, but this (and many other things) have been brought up to them as our wish-list :)

One point of clarification about the iPhone app: It doesn't have any functionality above and beyond what you get via the mobile version of the site in your browser. It's exactly the same experience.
