Well, my Bieles will be 26 weeks tomorrow and still haven't laid! One especially is very red in the comb, wattles and around the eyes, but no eggs yet. Any day now, I'm hoping... My other girls of the same age started in July, August, and September and have been laying steadily. Here's when the...

Thanks! Yes, TheMoonshiner did answer me over in the general forum....: "What color Leghorn? No way of knowing production for sure. I'd imagine pretty decent. Better then a Biel but not as well as a pure Leghorn." So, looks like I'm getting a general consensus, which is helpful to decide...

Thanks! Yes, I think he's quite happy with his harem of 12 girls and all the free-ranging they could want, protected by a coyote-hating German Shepherd! And me? It's balm to my soul watching them enjoy life.... Bielefelders, RIRs, Blue-Laced Red Wyandottes, Barred Rocks, Sapphire Gems...

    Bielefelder thread!!!!

After falling in love with the looks and acclaimed friendliness of this breed, I drove 6 hours round trip to buy a one-year-old rooster and two 12-week-old pullets. He's the most beautiful, majestic guy--sweet, selfless, watchful, and gentlemanly with the twelve girls, who all cozy to him. At...
