    Green Mountain Soy Free Layer

Every time I go - the wonderful older man laughs at me and tells me to just get Purina - he thinks all the "organic" people are crazy :)

    Green Mountain Soy Free Layer

Great to hear! I only have 1 laying (6 are almost there - 19 weeks old). She started 10 days ago and has missed only 1 day (followed by a double yolk egg) - They love the GM feed :)

    Green Mountain Soy Free Layer

Thank you so much for your quick reply - I think I'll do that. Since I only have 7 chickens, I store the unused feed in the freezer in plastic bins, so doubling up when I buy feed and then mixing the 2 together and storing in freezer should work just fine. And thanks for relieving my calcium...

    Green Mountain Soy Free Layer

Thank you so much for peeking in here and answering our questions :) My girls are just at point of lay and are totally switched over to your Green Mtn. soy-free. So far so good! Quick question - I'm not totally against soy, just don't want so much of it, so I'm thinking of getting one bag...

    Green Mountain Soy Free Layer

Mine are almost totally switched to the GM soy-free layer (was mixing with remainder of my starter feed for a gradual changeover)- got my 1st egg 5 days ago at 17 weeks so must be fine :) I add lots of extras - pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, chia seeds, meal worms, lentils, ancient grains...

    Green Mountain Soy Free Layer

Yes - they have not updated online since changing the formula - it is now 16% and has fish meal. They still add the methoinine - in order it goes - corn, flaxseed meal, wheat middlings, field peas, calcium, canola meal, alfalfa meal, whole grain wheat, fishmeal (menhaden mechanically extruded)...

    Green Mountain Soy Free Layer

Mine are 15 weeks old and haven't started laying - I just bought this bag of GM soy-free to have on hand and start mixing with their grower feed - I have a sex-link that is getting bright red comb/wattles and is squatting so I think she may be an early layer :) It is now 16% according to the...

    Green Mountain Soy Free Layer

Yes the Green Mtn. non-soy formula now contains fishmeal - I didn't know that Countryside had fishmeal - I thought it was all pea protein which is why I went with Green Mtn - haha. They are probably both very similar.

    Green Mountain Soy Free Layer

What was the reason you ended up using Countryside Organics instead of Green Mtn, - just curious since you had asked the original question. My feed store carries both and I went with GM - mainly because I heard that the CO had lots of dusty waste - not sure it that's true. And I liked that GM...

    Green Mountain Soy Free Layer

Thank you for replying :) Yes - I am aware of the canola problem and disappointed that this has canola meal . I found a quote by Eric developer of GMF - it was response of his to a question about another brand of soy-free. I'm still going back and forth over soy based vs. soy free and this is...

    Green Mountain Soy Free Layer

I know this is an old thread, but I just bought my 1st 50 lb. bag of GMF Organic Soy-Free Layer - they recently added fish meal to up the protein which makes me happy and willing to give it a try. I'm curious if anyone is using this feed and what their experience is....
