Help needed... I think my hen is stressed!

Ah thank you, I guess that makes sense of her behaviour. I thought that may be the case 😔 but I guess I can’t let him make the booted bantam’s life miserable!

Help needed... I think my hen is stressed!

I wondered if anyone had any other suggestions on this topic? My same booted bantam hen still seems stressed at times. The dynamic has changed again slightly now that the broody has 3 chicks. They are 3 weeks old now so spending most of their days In the outside run. This leaves the booted...

Help needed... I think my hen is stressed!

Thanks for the reply. We’ve got a separate run now, so at least that will be good for the chicks when they emerge with the broody. The coop is split for them, so they will be seen but separate - and this way they can have their own seen but separate space when they’re ready for outside.

Help needed... I think my hen is stressed!

Thanks for your help. Those feed proportions sound about right for what we do. I can’t find any signs of external parasites and have brought a ‘wormwood’ natural de-wormer, which I will give to them in their water. I guess I can put it down to the cockerel and/or top hen then. I’ll finish the...

Help needed... I think my hen is stressed!

I’ve attached photos of the egg, with the sand-like addition on one end. I think I read somewhere that it can indicate stress. Yes I agree and don’t intend to remove the hen who might be getting bullied. But don’t know if I should remove the cockerel or potential bully hen. The chickens have a...

Help needed... I think my hen is stressed!

I currently have two hens and a cockerel who free range in our garden. They are all the same age at just a year old. We also have another hen who is broody at the moment, so she only comes out for 10 minutes per day. Earlier this month we lost another hen to unknown causes. So basically, the...
