    I didn’t mean it in a negative way at all, my only two purebreds are both hatchery quality as well (the other two are mutts). It does make a difference though, as you can see from the lack of a beard.

    The muffs/beard is the tuft of feathers under a chicken’s beak. A booted bantam, which is unbearded (not my picture). My bearded d’uccle hen.

    Those look more like booted bantams than d’uccles to me. Too young to be sure, they could still grow in muffs.
