Another update just because I really love sharing pictures of these 2 😅. They're both growing so fast. The little one is still about half an inch/inch smaller, but he's catching up really quick. I think the big ones gonna be like, a jumbo pekin or something 😅. He's enormous. Sorry the pictures...
Update time! Both ducklings are doing great. The little one is..well, he's still very little 😅. He's very odd looking compared to his big sibling. He's very light in color pretty much all over. But you wouldn't know anything was different with him! He's got a big personality and keeps up with...
So weird. I guess the farmers market ladies ducks are either not great quality or it was just a fluke. He seems to be just as active as the other duck, and he eats and drinks just as much, so we'll see if he catches up. Even if he's just a tiny guy forever that's okay with me.
I don't, just these 2 hatched out of 3. The 3rd died while pipping and had a massively out of proportion head when I opened the egg up to look. By dwarf do you mean, this is bred on purpose or it's just something that happens randomly? How big is yours now? Thanks for the info!
I've got no idea 😅. I got the eggs from a local farmers market. A few users on here guessed but I think the closest guess was call duck mixes. The women selling them said they were peking eggs, but the eggs were blue & green and I've never known a peking to lay either.
Yeah, I just mentioned it cause he's so tiny! The 1st one that hatched is already bigger then my hand. The little guy is like, golfball size. But I'm sure he'll catch up soon!
His foot is good. I wrote above but I'll just repeat here haha 😅. The leg/foot is still a tiny bit crooked but he's running around no problem now. He follows the big one around all over the brooder. I caught him trying to bathe in the water dish I gave them, this morning (I have rocks in it so...
I think he's good now. The leg is still a tiny bit crooked but he's running like the wind. He's been eating and drinking, and cuddling with his big sibling. The only concern I have is that scab where the yolk was, but I've been putting neosporin on it and it's closed so I think it's alright...
More good news. He managed to escape his container while I was doing household chores (little stinker...) and when I came back to check on them he was out cuddling with the big one and both were asleep. So I guess they settled their differences 😅.
Well this morning his leg is slipping out from under him now and is staying back behind him. I tried putting the ducklings together again to let him move around and the bigger one is still attacking him 😥. He did drink a ton and eat some food though.
Sorry I didn't respond earlier, the site went down for me! But that's so weird. I got the band-aid fix advice on this forum a few years back and used it twice on chicks and never had any issues. But stuff does get outdated so I'm sure it's not correct now. As of now he's motoring. The leg is...
I used the band-aid trick for chicks with splay leg. Took a regular soft band-aid, put each side on either leg (not to tight) and put him in the container.
He originally was keeping his foot like that when he hatched but I assumed it was from the long time he was in the egg. I wrapped them when I put him in the brooder just in case but I think it's a deformity as it's facing inwards. For the brooder I currently have old (rough) towels in there. I...
