Thanks PurpleChicken....
Unfortunately it's still SNOWING in Maine right now (grrrr!) so I don't want to put them outside anytime soon. I kind of got used to blocking the noise out today, although as I just mentioned above it's really the worst when i leave the room. Can hear it across the...
Ha- that's too funny, jackmallex, because this chick is just the opposite! She cries when I am NOT around. If I leave the room she cries. If I am on the other side of the room she cries until I wave and talk to her. If I sit right by the brooder she's fine. I don't really get it: she has 5 other...
Thanks, I had read that thread... but that baby seems like it was lonely, and this on'e got lots of friends..... She's a little better now, only yelling about 25% of the time.
Now talk to me about the roo thing...... are you kidding 'cause its so noisy or is that a trait of baby roos? Because I really have my suspicions about this chick. I have 2 baby RIRs and this one has a noticeably bigger, fringier little tiny comb, it is quite a bit smaller than the other, and it...
Well I was all hopeful this morning when I came down and all was quiet!! but after about a half hour this chick has started in with the bawling again. OMG.
They do seem to like their stuffed animal, though.
Anyaone lese who might be just seeing this post have any thoughts on why this baby is...
P.C.... how long did it take before yours stopped howling? I am going to pray that's it's just a short-lived reaction to her travelling ordeal but what if its not? She's depriving the other 5 chicks of sleep and rest, too!
Thanks guys. She wasn't interested in the yogurt. I think she seems to be tiring herself out somewhat so maybe she'll get some sleep. I really don't know what I will do if this continues tomorrow, though. I work at home and i have three huge deadlines I am up against. I won't ve able to work if...
Thanks guys, you guys are so cool for replying with suggestions!
OK, I tried Jody's suggestion of tapping the feeder (I'd only showed them the feed before and she did eat) and it was hilarious to see them all pile over to see what I was showing them. However, she really does NOT like any sort...
Oops, I posted before I saw your replies.... Yes, we have tried all those things, actually, showing her the food and trying to play mama hen and shelter her.othing works. She didn't calm after holding her for about 7 minutes, either, just struggling and crying, even when held in the most calming...
Unfortunately this isn't working! Now she's screeching even closer to my ear.
What would cause this? Has anyone ever had it happen? She sounds just miserable but everything seems to be fine! it's almost like when Olivia was baby with colic and screamed all the time......
I feel bad not only...
Thanks Jody! Unfortunately she is the only one of the chicks that DOESN'T like to be held! Go figure! Maybe I will try it anyway.... anything to get her to shut up!
But since she's a hatchery chick, why would she miss mommy? is this a normal thing and we just lucked out with our last batch...
Our day-olds arrived today healthy and happy, no pasty butts, eating and drinking right away.
One RIR chick just WON'T stop crying. Everyone else is fine, but this one cries constantly, I have a knot in my back from the shrill peeping for the last 6 hours. It is eating and drinking and the...
