I’m pretty sure the eggs I had in the incubator I collected before they got to cold, and I started leaving the eggs in the nest once we were pretty much out of freezing temps. Still have a few night were we get near or at freezing but the geese have been pretty good about staying with the eggs...
Final update. No eggs will be hatching. This would have been day 23, candled and there’s nothing. Took all the eggs out and put a digital thermometer/hydrometer in to make sure the incubators dials are still treading accurately, looks like they are so far.
Not to sure if I did something wrong...
Probably going to pitch the incubator eggs, they still havnt done anything and a few appear to have gone bad :( I have a second set I might try with, I need to double check how long they’ve been in storage see if they are still good to incubate.
Anyways here’s an update on the geese’s nests...
Still not seeing anything happening in the incubator
the nests have three eggs in the back and nineteen in the front! I’ll be removing one from the front because it is a torpedo though.
Still no changes to the eggs in the incubator :(
I’ve been leaving my gooses’ eggs to them to hatch though, they have two nests going in the dog gloo. Back nest has four eggs in it this morning and the front has fourteen! Fingers crossed that some get hatched
So I’m still not seeing any development, going to see if I have a stronger light to candle with and see if I’m just missing it.
When should I call it? I see a lot of people do at ten days but then I also hear of people having eggs start to develop at ten days or a bit after?
One of my geese I noticed started being a good broody girl, so I left the eggs from yesterday, and I’ll continue leaving what ever is laid with her so hopefully she will hatch some out since apparently im not meant to this year :hmm
Not well I fear. I’m not seeing any signs of development. The think I’m seeing is on one egg and I think it is just a crack that formed while it was in the incubator, though the shell feels smooth where it is, so I’m unsure.
Here are some more.
The picture of them inside- the embden with the spot on its head is my gander, when we arnt in mating season he happy to try and take on a truck if it comes close to the flock, and the Toulouse next to him with its neck out my other gander, since mating season started in...
Ah, not many! I have one from when I brought them home and another when my girl Speck decided to make her nest out side . I’ll try to take another picture of them today!
Got eight unsexed geese last year in hopes I might be able to breed them! I have four embden geese and four Toulouse geese. I’m pretty sure one of each breed is a male and I have broken some eggs open to find that they were in fact fertilized! The most eggs I’ve found in a day so far has been...
