    Guinea Keets Coming Soon...Have Arrived!

I'm sorry to hear you lost one. A little over a week ago one of my purples was missing when I went to round them up. I don't know what happened but I figured it was either a hawk or a fox, the later more likely since they were hanging out in the Milo field across the street. Then on Saturday I...

Yet another thing for me to be jealous of- the fact that you have power at your coop! I am hoping once we get our garage wired up I can run power out to my coop one way or another. I just got a solar powered light to use in my coop to help get everyone in at night. At $13 it wasn't a huge...

    Guinea Keets Coming Soon...Have Arrived!

Did you make that yourself? How many nipples does it have? I'm glad to hear they drink from it! I have been dreading winter and the thought of lugging water to the birds several times a day (I don't have a water hookup near the coop). I may look into setting up a nipple system and seeing if my...

    Guinea Keets Coming Soon...Have Arrived!

That's interesting that they won't go into the fields. We have a lot of wild turkeys around here and our 2 acres is surrounded by farm fields. When the fields don't have any crops they are full of the turkeys. I assumed guineas would love the fields the same as the wild turkeys do. Although...

    Guinea Keets Coming Soon...Have Arrived!

It's all a novelty still. Maybe they will hang closer once they figure out what's out there. What are your surroundings like? Neighbors, forests, fields, etc.

    Guinea Keets Coming Soon...Have Arrived!

I read this the other day but didn't have time to comment. No news is good news, sometimes! I'm glad all is going well and everyone is still behaving. Too bad about BFC but hopefully his new family and flock are good to him. That (rehoming and the quality of the new home) is one thing I worried...

    Guinea Keets Coming Soon...Have Arrived!

I like when everyone puts themselves to bed. Two nights in a row my birds have done well in that aspect. Your birds give me hope that I won't have frustrating evenings of trying to round up birds at bedtime once they start free ranging!

    Guinea Keets Coming Soon...Have Arrived!

They went nuts! I used to give them grass and weeds in their brooder on occasion, but this was an all you can eat buffet. I am so happy they get to experience grass and dirt and open air and bugs now. Whenever I let them be for a few hours I would come back and the chicks were outside and the...

    Guinea Keets Coming Soon...Have Arrived!

I was nervous reading that but I'm glad all turned out well. I'll be the same way, I know. I have tried to prepare myself for some losses from the start but I'm still hoping for the best. Are you going to get any more chickens?

    Guinea Keets Coming Soon...Have Arrived!

I feel silly but that was so exciting to read! Around 2 o'clock every day my guineas like to settle in and take a nap. They have had that routine since they were days old. Has that ever been/is it still a habit of your flock?

    Guinea Keets Coming Soon...Have Arrived!

Congrats :) I have four to six more weeks before I reach that point with my guineas. For now I am content to sit in the coop and watch them and the chicks. Oddly, its very relaxing! I know I'll be excited (and nervous) the first time I let them out.

    Guinea Keets Coming Soon...Have Arrived!

How exciting! Why not just open the door to the run and keep the run in place in case you need it?

How big are your coop and run?

    Guinea Keets Coming Soon...Have Arrived!

Your coop looks great! I bet they are loving it. They were starting to get a bit cramped in the brooder, I'm sure.
