    It's the South where rain on a daily basis is the norm & everything grows good or bad! Tough for things to dry out when its always 80%+ humidty.

    Yeah the layer feed has the marigold in it to color the eggs & birds. My buff orpington isn't as golden, but lays more eggs.     You're very welcome! I like the higher protein level because when it's hot they don't eat as much so didn't feel 16/17% was enough. I do periodically give them a capful of what I call candy. I mix it myself: hulled sunflower seeds, hulled pepitas, sesame seeds, flax seeds, millet, sometimes...

    Interesting as I've been feeding Purina Flock Raiser for a while now. Fingers crossed! As for seeds/nuts going rancid storing in the freezer or refrigerator keeps them fresher. I live in the South & store all nuts & seeds that way.
