Lol..I've officially freaked Sunbeam out. I had read many entries to how to use heating pad in brooder. One had put the heating pad in a zip lock bag to keep it clean. 🤔 Now, I liked the concept, but questioned the safety, so before I attempted it, I sent an email asking, explaining it was an...

Crackle is what I found on delivery, no leakage, but on the opposite end. I just didn't think it redeemable & more of a hazard. 😔 Your Sticky didn't appear to be cracked..although neither did mine until after the sticky appeared. I'm officially in love with Rocket, that pic snuggling the egg...

    Is this coccidiosis

No, thank goodness, but the hairline cracks didn't leak anywhere bc they seemed to have started leaking and then sealed themselves with yes, a sticky substance, so mayhaps I was lucky in that regard.

Nop Nope, you're doing great. 3 had internally pipped, 3 had not. By that point I knew I'd lost the other 2. In this batch, nobody was dry in any sense of the word. But the two that died immediately after, their heads were still stuck under the wing. They were chirping like mad but until I got...

    Is this coccidiosis

No, not related to last hatch, but sound advice going forward. Using this time before next game day to be better prepared & do better. I might be playing the what if game, but of 8 eggs, 3 internally pipped on 9/29. By 10/2 1 had zipped abt 1/4 of the way then stopped, 2 of the 8 were dead for...

"Gamebird Disease,A Gamebird Keeper's Guide" - out of UK. “Slow absorption of yolk due to fasting has been reported...Moran and Reinhart (1980) observed that fasting led to a reduced uptake of yolk as compared to fully nourished birds. It was reported further that fasting favoured removal of...

Thank you for your help, @CluckNDoodle @Mixed flock enthusiast @R2elk I appreciate it more than you know. None of my yolks came OUT, they were just shoved to the left side of abdomen..unless that white creamy gunk was yolk, but it wasn't the color or consistency of yolk?

Just finished 1st article- no one's belly looked like THAT. Not that big, no loose edemic skin. It was tight, full. Umbilicals didn't look like that, but vent was def distended as one pic showed. Violet and Lavender didn't show symptoms, they just died. Buff had the diarrhea and discharge from...

Previous as in this past one? Temp 99.5 humidity 35-40% fluctuation, lockdown 65%. Previous as in in the past -last ones were in Brinsea w/Blu & Bella's last eggs; I staggered 2 batches, pulled out failed from 1st and added her last ones. I was fighting with it to maintain 99.5 & 35%. Temp kept...

Thank you for responding and help. Did I lose all chicks after hatch can be interpreted differently, so let me say of 18 eggs: 4 were Cracked (actually 1 a small area smashed but not seeping, 3 hairlines that looked like scratches but seeped in incubator)- I hatched that batch upright in egg...

She applied Neosporin to vent. I think main thing is it didn't stick. This was most insidious illness. Dundotte is gone this a.m. Aside from wondering where everyone went, it was eating and drinking, clean, bright eyed & active last night. Everything in there is being burned. I hate to pitch the...

This is long so stick with me: 1.)I did disinfect w/ bleach, left it out to air dry,and let it run for 24° 2.)put eggs in a few hrs ago, but unfamiliar with dipping eggs? And if you tell me, is it too late now? 3.)Changed batteries and salt tested hygrometers. 4.) As usual, have read a lot...

Little buff one died today. By the time I get Enrotex shipped here, the dundotte will be gone, I'm sure. "Streptococcus and the closely related Enterococcus bacteria normally live within the intestines of chickens, infecting birds mainly if their resistance is low — usually because of an...

Re navel - they look good after the soak. The 1st time I saw that gunk in photos, I was afraid that's where it came from, but other times it was obviously from vent so I guess they laid in it. . COLI (COLICBACILLOSIS) Symptoms: fever and lethargy, trouble breathing, diarrhea and coughing -I...
