    Easter Egger club!

FYI -- Saw a cute Netflix movie w/Suisan Sarandon called "The Meddler" where her love interest is a retired policeman who keeps a few cooped hens on his rural property. He presents Sarandon w/ a half-carton of eggs of which one is a blue-shell egg (which he explains in the movie is from his...

Anyone notice if their blue eggs oxidize to a greenish tint after being collected from the nestbox? My Blue Wheaten Ameraucana (my avatar photo) used to lay pretty sky blue eggs but after sitting in my egg skelter a few hours the blue turned to greenish-blue. Talked with other Amer and EE...

@DeerChicken14 Coincidentally I saw an old Frankie Nunez movie on Netflix last week and there was a white Easter Egger chicken in it!!! More and more chickens are being shown in rural movie scenes but unfortunately it's always associated with them being scared and dispersing in panic -- as...

Just curious if sulphur is in ORGANIC raisins which is the only kind of fruits, produce, or packaged goods we give our hens? I also soak raisins in bottled water (I know I'm picky haha!) so the raisins are soft enough for the little Silkie's beak.

What I do for my hens is cut up leafy greens into small bits -- I have a small Silkie with a much smaller beak than our Breda and Dominique hens so cutting up tiny pieces of leafy greens, cucumber, etc makes it easier for her to nibble and eat produce. Even raisins or blueberries she can't...

Can't tell from one picture that Waggy has a deformed beak. She obviously must be eating to have grown up to this size so her slight deformity doesn't seem to be interfering with her ability to take in food.

I would call her/him "CURIOSITY" because I'm not accustomed to EE chicks being that curious without running away!

I happen to like Blue in ANY breed so hope you get some Blue EE stunners! So many EEs are seldom just one color and have other colors spotted throughout -- but EEs are so sweet you'll love them no matter what!

@Steam Powered Chicken Had to chuckle over your babies' LONG names! I have a CUCKOO BREDA that we named -- "Her Royal Highness Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, Princess of Cambridge" but we just call her "Char" LOL!

Supposedly blue egg layers have blue shells on the inside as well as outside. Light Brown to Chocolate Brown egg layers have white on the inside of the shells because the outside brown color is "painted" on as it travels to the exit. However, a few of us have commented that the "pink" egg...

    Easter Egger club!

It's a shame the blue eggs oxidize into greenish hues. Our Blue Wheaten Ameraucana layed pale sky blue eggs and a couple hours in the egg skelter and they'd start looking dull w/ that ugly taupe/greenish hue. Regular EE green eggs are pretty and not much change there but losing the beautiful...

    Easter Egger club!

No No No !!! No claiming Blue eggs without photos LOL! Also, be aware that Blue eggs turn greenish from oxidation and/or hot atmosphere so you need to snap a Blue egg pic almost immediately after it's been layed. We would gather Blue eggs from our Blue Wheaten Ameraucana (my avatar pic) and...

As long as it doesn't go in one ear and out the other. Very few seem alert enough when their kids are grabbing chicks everywhere and the store doesn't stop them.

    Easter Egger club!

Yep, I've caught myself advising customers sometimes because I feel sorry for what they're about to do to the poor chicks their kids are grabbing up!

    Easter Egger club!

On another note, I'm not too thrilled with customers who come to buy chickens before they even took a day to research chicken breeds before trotting to the feed store. They buy the chicks for their kids and then wonder which flimsy little fir wood chicken coop kit made in China they need to...
