Sometimes you can tell at two or three weeks. The hens will give a few honks instead of peeps. It’s always hard to tell which one if your hearing is bad like mine.It is time for updated pics"...........hint hint
Mocha was hard to give away. While brooding he was the best fly catcher. His problem was too much bill and too much corkscrew. He over did it with a Pekin hen. I figured it would be easier on the hens if we just kept Bandit the runner for the four hens.
Ours are doing good. Mom spoiled them on their hatch day today. Her little dog got too close and I don’t know if the runner drake was trying to mate him or just bite.
Hershey keeps her head close to her body but can extend it like a normal duck, especially at treat time. I don’t know if she can fly anymore but at one time was the second best of the flock as far as height and distance.
Here is our K/C hen we still have. She has some kind of spinal defect which gives her a crooked butt . Hershey is still happy, best egg layer, and loudest duck we have.
