Metal Fortress? Is it enough or to much?

I have a fan going in the coop for ventilation. I'm going to have cutouts near the top apexs for ventilation. I also have thermal white paint that will probably go on. It works amazing on metal roofs, it seals and lowers temps.

T That's the end result anyways right?

Metal Fortress? Is it enough or to much?

I found a used metal storage building 10x12 here close for $250. I like metal, what can I say? :) I'm probably just going to go that route. Save time and some money.

Metal Fortress? Is it enough or to much?

Yea, that increases cost and I'm not sure if I have enough space for that size of a footprint. I could get away with a 8x8, but I wanted the extra room. Now your making me want to just build a new barn and tie the coop into one side. :(

Metal Fortress? Is it enough or to much?

I found a pic of a model barn, I'm thinking of building a coop in this general manner. I'd want it to be a little tidier looking although. I'm thinking of a 8'x16' floor plan. With multiple rooms. One for a storage, brooding area, sink/water access(cleaning stuff and the whole coop) and...

Metal Fortress? Is it enough or to much?

I'm a fan of medieval times thus a fan of mmorpg as well. I need a "Buff" Orpington as he should be able to wield a hefty battle axe!

Metal Fortress? Is it enough or to much?

Hmm, I like the idea of a moat and maybe a draw bridge. I need to teach my girls archery. Chicken kingdom anyone?

1/2" hardware cloth on every square inch. It is laid on the ground and a foot U shape pin holding them into the earth. The grass is also grown over it now. Further holding it in place and there is a electric fence in place that is STRONG. I don't have photos of the fence.

If I showed you a pic of it. It would force me to either run it over with my dually or build another one. 0.o It works, but I'm extremely embarrassed by it.

My turkey pen looks like a 3rd grader built it. It is 100% scrap reclaimed built. I need to buy some materials to make it look better and be more structurally sound. When I put it up there was storming everyday for months. It looks awful! My broiler pen is a reclaimed shed, it is decent.

Further more I've tested the strength, rigidity, and deflection of the emt(2.30 a 10' vs 5x the price for the rgs). It handles two humans on top standing with zero sway. The cattle panels really tighten it up when welded appropriately. I was going to weld in more supports originally, but it...

Metal Fortress? Is it enough or to much?

Rebar with concrete 3' deep at all for corners is my next addition. :) I've thought about that as well. I have a second pen attached to this that already has concrete and buried well into the ground. We've had 50mph wind storms with zero movement to this. The wind generally comes from the...

I hope so! As I live on the gulf coast in Alabama. Hurricanes apparently like this area.

Metal Fortress? Is it enough or to much?

So, instead of paying some ridiculous price. I decided to build a "cheap" area for my chickens that can withstand predators. I used 1/2"-3/4" emt conduit, cattle panels, 1/2" 19ga hardware cloth, hog rings, foam/cushion(corners), galvanize spray, reclaimed door, wire/gas and some hot temps...
