In case anyone is interested, I was able to find a couple of references on the web about being able to sex chickens by using a nail/needle attached to a string. Most indicate it is an old wives tale, some believe it is accurate. The links are below.
Here is a video:

I think you will be happy to know that my little black rooster and I are getting along much better. I had to start looking at him as a rooster and how he can impact my flock rather than the destroyer of my chocolate eggs dreams. He’s calming down more and hasn’t pecked me recently. He’s still a...
I’ll try to recall what they said. They said every living thing has a natural ph force or something. So he held the large steel nail attached to a string above the chick’s head if it goes in a circle, it’s a male. If it swings back and forth, it’s female. Or vice versa. But that’s the gist of it.
I completely understand. Probably won't cull him, though. I thought about selling him. Just not sure... I'll keep him around for a few days until I decide. Thanks for the perspective.

I just sent the video to the farm where I got the chick as a pullet. He said it could be a hen showing the others who's boss. How likely is that to be the case?

I need an unlike button for days like this. I didn't want any roosters.
It's so funny that you say that. The chick he mounted is new...
I had three. That was working well, even they she (or he) was still giving her a fun for her money. I started using a Grandpa’s Feeder today. So there’s only one and no other food is supposed to be available during the training period. So, Mr. Roo pretty much guards it from her.
Your remember that! lol... Not just that. He told me two weeks ago that was a rooster. I didn't believe him. No wonder I haven't gotten those chocolate eggs yet.
