The verdict is in . . . the chick is white! So that rare percentage that Sonoran Silkies described actually occurred here!
Here's a pic from today:
If this chick turns out to be breeding quality (and I hope s/he does) - can I breed him/her as a white without risking other colors popping up...
Update on the mystery chick color - more feathers have come in (sorry I didn't get a pic today but will try to soon) - so far the chick is all white! When do the splash markings come in?
Thanks!
Thank you everyone for your input! I am still a newbie to silkies, and was kind of hoping I had some new mysterious color - but I'm absolutely thrilled with these healthy and adorable chicks! I will post pics as the chicks mature.
I don't know about a buff egg - I don't think the breeder raises buffs. The chick also has gray on it. The breeder does raise lavenders. Could it be lavender? or porcelain?
Thanks!
Melissa
The baby in the forefront, looking at the camera. Hatched from a group of B/B/S shipped eggs - I'm a little confused by the tan tint. This photo was taken in daylight, no flash.
thanks for any input!!!
