I'm so sorry. But you should try again! My theory on shrink wrapping is that it happens after they die, not necessarily what causes them to die. I'm sure it can happen, but they probably died for some other reason. Don't fault yourself... we learn from our mistakes and do better next time!

Well, my first set didn't hatch till day 18, so don't give up hope yet! This last set started early on day 16. I didn't do anything differently, except the bator was more heavily loaded this time. Had 26 hatch, lost one that was splay leg and somehow got flipped over and I didn't see it...

I locked down on day 14 last time, but they didn't hatch till 18. I guess quails hatch range is more difficult to pinpoint than chickens and ducks lol Today is day 13 for me, I think I'll lockdown on 15. I have silkie/cochin eggs in with mine, due the same day.

Well, I was told they need 32% protein, but the highest I can find is Manna Pro gamebird/showbird and its only 24%. Mine seem to be growing fine on it, but hopefully someone more knowledgeable will answer. Maybe check the quail threads. I don't think I'm going to keep mine now, so I haven't...

That amount of water should work for the first 15 days, might need a little more surface area of water for the last few. If you could pick up a hygrometer before then, it could be helpful. Here is a pic I took last night, Day 8. Nice and healthy, so here's what you should see in a few days...

Are these coturnix quail? I assume so from the pics, they look like mine. Some of mine appeared darker, some even green or blue tinted inside when candling. I hatched several different colors, but didn't note if there was any correlation. I ran at 99.5-100 (37.5-38.2) No way would I expect 45...
