My chicken hasn't moved in a week. Frostbite?

My posts aren't contradictory. My wording might be confusing. I have had no frostbite issues with my ADULT birds. Only my chicks- which is understandable in -50F temps.

Confused how? I'd be happy to answer questions... with all due respect to the OP. I was just reminding you of the rules: that banter is not permitted on BYC :)

I will add those hens were given to me this spring, they had frostbite previous to my ownership of them. But, this is off topic and disrespectful to the OP.

My chicken hasn't moved in a week. Frostbite?

My 10-week old chicks got frostbite in -50F temps. My hens had frostbite from the previous year. I am not sure why you are bringing this up. It is off topic and against forum rules to start or try to start arguments. Let's focus on the OP's problems, not mine (let alone mine from previous...

What? I'm afraid I don't understand what you are asking.

Frostbite... agreed. One of my pullets has it real bad. Her legs are dead but she walks ok. Getting butchered when she is 15 weeks instead of 12.

I totally agree. I certainly learned that last bit the hard way when we had -50 temps.

Oh for sure, cold is a factor, but it's not the deciding factor. Humidity in -20 temps would cause frostbite... -20 isn't super cold... A dry coop is key :)

Frostbite isn't as much as a cold issue but humidity.

My coop is not heated. Chickens are the animal eskimos. I have had no frostbite issues excluding my now-heated 10 week old chicks.

I doubt it is frostbite, although the ice ball makes me nervous. How far below freezing did it get? Mine have been in -50 F temps, so I don't think the cold would affect her as badly as you suspect. Please post some pictures. I suggest you seperate her. What is she being fed? Is she laying? Has...
