The order is messed up.the one with the straw is the last day on the rooftop. Then the one by the emergency area. The geese have grounded. 6 of the 7 eggs made it. One did not make it out of the egg. They are just too cute. I wait until they get their feathers in so they can tread water, then herd them to the harbor.

I thought so too!!!! It's funny that birds with such hard beaks can look like they have expressions. Her and the dad have accepted me as a flock member. After we moved them to the harbor last year, I would pop in and see them after a few weeks for a couple of months. The goslings would come...

It's hard not to handle these cuties and make them pets... But I will not even try. They need to stay wild so when we march them to the lakefront they will survive without me/us. There are four in the picture and at least two more under momma. There were seven eggs. Last year the same, and all...

I find it hard not to be more "close" to a pet type relationship with this couple of geese, but I realize that if they are to stay wild and self-sufficient when its time to walk them to the big lake then I need to be careful on bonding any more than we have already. Last year I went to visit...

Our garden/farm is a community outreach from the hospital in our neighborhood and is the top (6th) floor of the parking garage. When we made the exodus to the lakefront, we walked down thru the parking garage. All the way down, and then to the lake thru a ground lot over to the parkway, under a...

They and I have a good understanding relationship. When the chicks hatch, the mom/dad bring them out of the box (7 feet off the roof deck) to the roof. While in the box, I make sure she has water (red bowl). She has accepted me enough that she stands up and shows me the eggs. Last year we fed...

Yes, with the first 4 I have, (two r i reds, a barred rock, and the black one) I already get white eggs and jumbo brown eggs. I heard the three new Americanas will give me blue/blue-green eggs, the other barred rocks should be brown, and the five Wyandottes are a different shade of brown.
