Poor guy:( Is he having a hard time breathing? His comb is quite purple. If the leg is bruised, then it may take time to heal. I would consider trimming his nails shorter and cut back his spurs as well. This may help him balance better.

Can you get some photos of all of him and how he stands? I'm sorry, I'm still having trouble understanding the issue. You mention the leg being in the opposite direction? Is it twisted? Some clear photos may be helpful. If it's swollen, I think I would continue to do what you are doing...
