It's a fab incubator really is set and leave one. Because the pump does the humidity management for you it takes a lot of worry out of...

Yes I hatched coturnix quail. They were lovely little birds but unfortunately the dog didn't like them and managed to get one through the wire and killed it. I found her death rolling it on the lawn. From that point on she was on full kill mode and it wasn't fair on her or the quail to keep so...

I'm sure it will be fine as its zipping. So must be in the right position or it wouldn't be able to. Their head is like tucked under the wing its quite amazing how they manage to get out!! No wonder they are so tired when they have hatched.

The chicks know what to do its best to let nature take its course. It's their first real test to see how strong they are. Hatching is very tiring for them and Inbetween trying to hatch they have to do a lot of resting. Have you tried listening to the incubator usually once you have internal pips...

    day 18 internal pip

Yes it can be upto 24 hours they do the external pip when the oxygen has become low and the c02 has become high. You may not see an actual hole they usually just make a small crack in the shell first before making the hole. So unless you look very carefully you may not see it at first. Patience...

    day 18 internal pip

Try not to worry, chicks can survive for upto 72 hours after hatching without food and water. So they will be fine to stay in the incubator. Are the eggs of the same breed? I have found bantam eggs tend to hatch a little early anyway usually for me on day 20 then have usually finished by the end...
