What are the protein and calcium percentages of these feeds? Which feed are you fermenting? I'd suggest nothing but the layer feed for a couple weeks, see if that changes things.

Need more info, including some pics of the eggs, age of birds in weeks or months, how long they've been laying to start with. I doubt it's serious, there are a lot of glitches and anomalies with home grown eggs.
