Help!!! Chukar eggs not hatching but can hear them??

As an update to my temperature dilemma...I purchased a used Grumbach S84 analog incubator It didn't have the original mercury thermometer or dial hygrometer, but came with a remote temp probe used for reptile terrariums. Just to try it out I placed some of my refrigerated eggs I was pretty...

Help!!! Chukar eggs not hatching but can hear them??

I replied to your pm, and I apologize if it's a bit long winded. I must be buying bad digital thermometers, because the one I have with a remote probe is saying it's over 105 in the bator, but the two sitting next to the eggs are showing around 99-100, the same as the thermostat. Go figure.

Help!!! Chukar eggs not hatching but can hear them??

Perhaps you and I are off to a bad start. I never stated that you suggested any placement of the temp probe. The o.p. stated she placed the probe on top of the egg, which is not recommended as it will give an incorrect reading as to what is the ambient air temperature in the bator. While I...

Help!!! Chukar eggs not hatching but can hear them??

Personally not a fan of digital thermometers as I think their calibration and sometimes cheapness from china makes me suspect of their accuracy. An alcohol or mercury thermometer is very accurate. Downside is they're slow to change and everyone's afraid of mercury. But I think they are useful...

Help!!! Chukar eggs not hatching but can hear them??

There's an article I posted on another thread about my problems with maintaining the temp in my incubator. I did have a better success rate when I switched out to a digital thermostat. Even though mine is a circulating air one, each tier has a temperature gauge that won't always match the one...
