Yup! One is for ducks and one is for chickens! We are really happy with it. She’s had it on since I first posted about this and it’s held up wonderfully and keeps her foot completely dry.
Oh and yes, her “bad” foot is warm, normal looking, etc - her toes just like to curl under for some...
Hey everyone!
Just wanted to give an update!
Whopper is still exactly the same - her toes are still curled/bent backwards and flaccid.
After I posted this we ordered her a boot online and she has had it on since.
It allows her to walk around completely fine - no limp at all and no...
Thank you so much! Yeah, I was really happy when I saw a little bit of improvement and I was also worried about her ability to walk with it on.
I will be super excited if she looks even better tomorrow.
I watched her for a good hour or so when I first put the boot on her because I wanted to...
I’ll take a picture tomorrow - the girls are already in bed :)
I made a little splint sort of like this photo but i used a mid/heavy duty plastic, which i put a padding on and used medical tape. I did this this morning and she got around great with it on and none of the other girls messed with...
Thank you. My gut tells me it’s an injury and not an illness or infection.
I will try all of your suggestions.
Do you have a way to splint that you recommend? I’ve never had to before.
Would these boots work?http://www.hensaver.com/Birdy-Bootie.html
Yes, this all just happened out of no where 5 days ago or so.:(
Thank you so much for all of the wonderful advice. I really appreciate it and will do everythibg you suggested.
I feel so bad for my girl.
Thank you so much. The spot on her toe doesn’t come off with my finger so I am guessing it’s Bumblefoot or maybe just a freckle?
She does not indicate pain when I straighten her toes out. She doesn’t grip AT ALL with them.
Thank you! Yes, the toes straighten out easily. I wouldn’t say they “spring” back becausd they are so loose and flaccid. They just go back to being curled.
Ok here are some pictures. You can see the spot that may be Bumblefoot on her back toe. Does Bumblefoot cause the toes to curl up and be limp? The toes that are curled are NOT the one with that spot. That toe stays straight.
Thank you! I will try the Nutri Drench!
I am feeding them Purina Layena pellets and she was from a feed store.
If it was a defiency, wouldn’t the other girls have issues too?
Please help! She has her two outside toes curled under but is walking fine.
1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.)
