To save a literal dollar, I tried a bag of stove pellets...once. They do look a like, and here equine pellets here are $5 a bag, where the stove pellets are $4 a bag. My experience...the stove pellets didn't even need to get wet before they started to turn into a powder. The smell was different...

Yea, pretty much. That is draw back and you learn very quickly what is too much to start and too little. Nothing more aggravating than cleaning a brooder to find nice fresh pellets under the used ones...hate to waste here.

X2 Pellets are $5.00 a bag here too. My pens are different, but with brooders and the few project pens I do have...pellets are the bomb!
