Update!
Esther is doing great! She is irritated with her "T-shirt" but home and absolutely STARVING!
Here are a couple pics of what was removed. It was gross and smelly and I'm thinking would not have passed with my inexperience and sub par skills mixed with a bit of ADHD brain :wee
EDIT: to...
Esther is at the vet now. They are surgically removing the mass. I will update with the prognosis, what was inside, and the recovery. Thank you for the advice and confidence building to learn how to tube a chicken. Everything has given me a chance for more learning. I will build up my emergency...
So when I tubed some water, at about 7.5 ml in, I cold swear I saw some pool up in her mouth so I immediately stopped. I know the tube was down correctly and she is just fine but was I imagining that? Or was her crop just too full? I was taking it slow. I did 5 ml, took a quick break to be sure...
Unfortunately my Walmart does not stock it, our local Rural King has none in stock and Tractor Supply is 30+ minutes away.
Thank you very much for linking those! I love links😁
The best we can find locally is 30ml at rural king. Farm and fleet is closed now. Is it worth the trip or use what we have and go to farm and fleet as soon as it opens tomorrow?
The store didn't have any bigger ones.
I have that 10 ml and a 5 ml so maybe hubs can fill one as I syringe the other? I know not ideal but it is gonna have to work for tonight. But, it's another thing I'll add to my chicken emergency kit asap.
Sorry, I was reading your article and watching the video on tube feeding. I feel extremely overwhelmed with this right now.
I have a 10ml syringe
She weighs 2177g
And, wouldn't you know, after weighing her, she steps inside the cage and dumps her water bowl. I said, a bit frustrated "ugh, why...
Ok, I have silicone tubing, it is very soft and flexible. Do I just tube her water? How much at a time? Do I massage right away or give it a few minutes? Any oil at this point? Vitamins? I have some probiotic, prebiotic and enzyme tabs for poultry water. I also have vitamin B and vitamin E.
I am still searching for a set. My farm and fleet is out of stock, Walmart only ships, rural king website does not even have one that I can find, and our local medical supply store is not open. CVS has a closed catheter for women, maybe I can cut it and just use the tube?
'm not sure where else...

Ok, I think I've figured out what is happening. She is still acting well and definitely not sickly. I am getting water in her, quite often now so we do not have to deal with dehydration, and coconut oil every couple hours. Shortly after I massage her she has a...
Ok, this morning she is still up and moving, talkative, bright alert eyes and red comb. She is definitely watching me with all the syringes of water, coconut blobs and massages I've had for her. Lol I syringed lots of water yesterday and she is definitely not lethargic. I can hear stomach...
She just laid another egg! Three or four days in a row now so I am happy with that. She just snuck behind me to get to her grit and calcium. She is spunky. Jumping up on her cage and preening.
Y'all got me doing some really crazy stuff with my gals. Things I can now say that I never thought...
Where do you get tubing? My vet is closed, maybe a pharmacy?
She is definitely in good spirits, up and moving, and searching for food still when I have her out. In about 15 hrs she has drank 1/3 cup water, I'm not sure what the norm is for a single chicken.
She is also becoming more tolerant...
