Some of the old gals.
Young F1 cockerel likely to go into breeding pen with the old gals.
Some of the blue laced red project birds.
A couple of the males sneaking a drink out the bucket fill overflow, near one oranger than prefered.
I'm still fooling around with them. Had a little setback with them a couple years back. Vulture hocks had been an issue from the beginning, due to their Cochin heritage. Over the years I had it down to the point I thought I was close to, or hopefully had removed it completely from my flock...
I have not missed the Ohio National in many years, just to walk around, drool, and study what good birds should look like. Talk to some folks I've come to know over the years. I have brought a few birds home, over the years, involved in some of my projects. As for showing, I haven't. I am...

Maybe in the fall, when I cut down to winter numbers. Let the young birds develop, let the hens moult out after being in the breeding pens.
With the cost of the big shipping boxes, and actual shipping cost of birds of this size, I will also try to deliver to shows locally.

What do you think, the Sunday night format seemed to be pretty popular. Although maybe ending a little earlier, I was so amped up last night I was forever getting to sleep. That and skipping around the backyard barefoot in the rain at the conclusion of the auction...

Man, was that a hoot, or what, last night. I wonder how many people were following the auction there toward the end.
I must say, I do feel somewhat vindicated, and relieved, knowing I can afford feed, for a little while.
I'm not up on the genetics of Lemon Pyle, are they a variation of splash/ blue buff columbian ? Do they breed true, or do you have the BBS effect involved ? Actually if they are splash and breed only to splash would breed true.
Put another batch of blue laced red eggs up for auction.
I agree, it's the folks you don't know that are the grey area. You want the price to hopefully weed out the cassually interested, who if the did get some, might just as likely run them in a mixed flock, hatching whatever crosses that result, losing all the work put in to get them to that point...
I just wanted to give folks a heads up that I posted more Blue Laced Red Brahma project eggs here. I wanted to get feedback from the winner of the first auction as to packing technique and fertillity before posting more eggs.
My real purpose with this auction is to help learn the process of selling, shipping, receiving payment, etc. with less valuable eggs before I start with the silver laced Brahma eggs. Hopefully learning enough to avoid getting negative feedback and build a strong rep on more active sites. (Unless...
Well ya, I have only been breeding the blues for three years. You should have seen what a mess the silvers were at that stage. This is only the second generation (F2) away from pure wyandotte, have a lot of that influence to breed out yet.
Not quite a gift, but I did post a dozen+ blue laced red Brahma project eggs at very reasonable price in the hatching eggs section here.
