    dumb questions from first timer...

Well it's been almost 6 months since I've seen any eggs from my gal runner...... and then a week ago...... woo hoo!!! And one a day since then. I've been threatening them with the likelihood of providing Thanksgiving dinner.... perhaps they heard me. I don't have a clue what the layoff was all...

    dumb questions from first timer...

Yes, they are penned together, though I can't say I've noticed him trying too hard. It seems like once or twice a day he'll be chasing her around the garden. From what I've seen it's generally pretty quiet at night, though obviously I don't see what happens all night long. I could segregate them...

    dumb questions from first timer...

Well here it is mid August and the gal still isn't laying at all. She still sits on an empty nest most of the day, though she seems to be getting out and about the garden a wee bit more. I have seen the drake chasing her around just about on a daily basis so I know he's still trying though I...

    dumb questions from first timer...

Thanks again Miss Lydia..... I closed her off from the nesting box and after a few attempts to figure out what was going on she seems fine with it and has resumed her life again. Can I look forward to her starting to give me eggs again anytime soon do you suppose?

    dumb questions from first timer...

Thanks Miss Lydia.... do I need to wait to catch her off the nest or can I just ease her out? She doesn't come off it for long a couple times a day so often I don't catch her when she does. She seems to be eating and drinking but I will try the Nutri drench anyway.

    dumb questions from first timer...

Well it's been 2 months from the time my gal runner quit laying and started sitting. A week ago, while she was off the nest, I removed 4 eggs and somewhat deconstructed her nest. Perhaps I didn't do it thoroughly enough as she gathered it all back up and has been sitting on an empty nest...

    dumb questions from first timer...

If I determine the eggs are not viable, should I toss them, and assume she will give it up and return to her normal everyday life? Do I deconstruct her nest? Thanks..... Gary

    dumb questions from first timer...

It's 5 weeks now and the Lady Runner is still sitting on a couple eggs of unknown age. How long can this go on? Other than missing my daily (almost) egg from her, do I leave her alone and allow her to continue to do whatever she's doing? Thanks..... Gary

    dumb questions from first timer...

I just now had the opportunity to check to see just what the girl is sitting on under that mountain of pine shavings she's built up. I was very surprised to find just one egg and it was nearly at the bottom of the pile and relatively cold. I candled it with a flashlight best I could and since...

    dumb questions from first timer...

Thanks Amiga.... I think she's sitting on quite a pile cause it has grown higher and higher. How long will she sit if they are all duds? Will I need to toss the eggs out to get her off them if they are duds? I know the male was getting pretty frisky with her prior to this.

    dumb questions from first timer...

Hi... I have a pair of runners just over a year old. The young lady started laying early this Spring. About 2 weeks ago she started sitting on eggs and only coming off the nest for about 30 minutes a day far as I am aware. Is it likely she will successfully incubate her eggs as I've read that...
