I wanted to let everyone know my experience with the 20 eco and something that I recently figured out about mine. I posted in this thread about a year ago asking for help with low hatch rates and got some great tips and help from everyone and I was able to get a better hatch rate with you guys...
Wanted to thank everyone that gave help and advice. I think lowering the humidity definitely worked. I ended up getting 4 out of 5 chicks hatched. Have 3 ayem cemanis and 1 black orpington. Thank you!!!!!
You can use the red screw to adjust the temp. Just give it a good 30 mins or so to adjust before making more adjustments. I think 1/4 turn is about 2 degrees
You are right it was Friday that mentioned humidity. I'm sorry should have given credit where it's due. Friday, thank you and scflock for the input, I think it definitely made a difference. Still waiting on 2 of the cemanis to hatch.......no pips yet so I'm starting to worry a little
The only one you can see in there right now is the one Black orpington I had in there with them. Got 3 out of 5 hatched now. The cemanis are so dark you can hardly see them lol
I hope nobody thinks I'm trying to bash, I'm not. My wife tells me to STOP STRESSING OUT!!!! I worry about this stuff way too much LOL. Once this hatch is over, I am going to report my results back so that everyone that has given advice will know if it worked.
As far as disinfecting, I would think you could do it with Lysol without causing issues.
With that said, I have to be completely honest, I would not buy the ECO again ( I got a great deal on a used one BTW ). The internal temp swings from 98.7 to 100.4 depending on the temps in my house. My...
Yes I candled on day 7 and 14. It's only 4 eggs but they are all developing well and the air cells are growing as they should according to your pic you posted earlier. I'm keeping my fingers crossed !!! Thank you for the help
Thank you for the wise words! I am new to this and I am so glad I found this thread!!! I feel much better about the swings now.
BTW, I'm on day 16 with a few ayem cemani eggs and I took your advice and have been running at 32-35% humidity so hopefully the lower humidity works. I have marked the...
I have the eco myself and I have the same temp fluctuation issues. Mine will swing a half a degree or so while turning. Also I see a change in the bator temp when the temp in my house changes. When it's 67 in the house, it will drop to 99.0 and when the house is up around 73 it goes up to 100 in...
Ok I just emptied one of the wells and I'm letting it warm back up aND just wanted to show yall what thermometers I'm using. Probably not the bestbut it's what I've got
EDIT 05:00 - Checked the temp and humidity on my way out this morning. Was at 99.4 and 29% RH. I went ahead and refilled...
