I would say it’s more normal for a SLW to have that color egg when they begin to lay. Because BR eggs are much lighter. And the SLW looks like she would be ready to lay.

I agree! Your BR would have a much larger brighter comb if she was laying.

My barred rock lays a much lighter egg. And my SLW’s eggs aren’t quite that dark but they are darker than the ones from my BR. :frow I always love getting the first eggs from pullets too so exciting! :)
