Nothing is going to deter a fox if he has free access to your birds. You have to fence him out and your birds in. Or get a guard dog (our lab never barks but is a great chicken protector ) or better yet, both.

Yes, I agree, dog + fence is really the best option! That gives both the chickens and the dog a defined territory. Its Much easier for the dog to defend an understood defined territory..
Relocating the fox alive is most likely illegal and definitely irresponsible. You will just be giving your problem to someone else and/or into another foxes range. If you trap it, you kill it.
