    I am hoping next week we can get some started pullets for Sweet Pea to have as companions. She is happynwhen we are there with her, but I can only imagine being what being left in solitary confinement feels like for her.

    It's been rough. Those girls meant a great deal to us. I am glad I found Tesla today before some animal got a free meal out of her in the weakened state that she was under that structure. At least she got a good death, unlike her sisters....

    Thanks so much. It is much appreciated to hear from like-minded friends here. They were like kids to us. We are planning on getting more chicks this spring, and prior to that we have to find a couple of birdie buddies for Sweet-Pea our lone survivor. She is basically losing her mind it appears...

    Here is an update to the bird "Tesla" who I found today. We took her to a vet. He found she had a broken pelvis and deep bite wounds in her backside. She must have been bitten down on and managed to escape. We had her put down, as it would be likely she would not survive. She already was...

    Quote: I would have to agree, but she was without food and water, and exposed to elements. It was freezing cold out here this week, with the temp dropping down to 5 degrees outside at night last night. We will see the vet today. That itself has been a problem--as few vets see chickens.

    I don't know. I am afraid to touch her, as she looks so uncomfortable. She is limping. I can't believe she is still alive. Maybe it is her foot that is injured as opposed to a break..I'm not sure. She still eats. I have her in a room with warmth, by herself with food and water.
