I preordered a NN roo. at the moment I have no room for more chickens.

I have a huge black rock pullet. she is supposed to be rhode island roo over plymouth rock hen. I am considering to use her for breeding with NN and dongxiang (black meat, green egg). she has it all: meat and a lot of huge eggs.

I wish I could help you. we have really nice NNs here. very chunky birds, good layers of xl eggs. I am going to get them again. I gave a friend of mine a 5-6 yo black NN hen who still lays a few eggs. I will take her back and find a good boy for her. I want her to be foundation for my future flock.

sorry you lost your roo. why do we always loose the precious ones?

I live in greece. a friend of mine has a roo in question. he might put a few white egg layers with his 2 green egg layers. if some of his girls produce pullets who lay eggs white inside it would mean he is not homozygous blue.

how many pullets do we need to be sure that he carries 2 blue egg genes?

I guess another all hat no cattle. luckily they do not last for long here. hens at least give us eggs and meat, so they are not useless like arrogant-believe-to-be-smart talks.
