@ChicKat In my experience, the mice seem to disappear as the rats show up. Idk if that's coincidence, but it's something I've noticed over the years :confused:

I would order the bromethalin. It's nasty but it works quicker. I would definitely keep looking around your yard as often as you can for dead rats. When I've used the stronger poison I almost always found bodies on a daily basis.

That's hard to say. It does seem like it kills them quite a bit faster than the anticoagulant. How far away from your neighbors are you? The more secluded you are the quicker you can kill off the colony. The biggest problem is that they multiply SO fast. If they're safely breeding in the...

Secondary poisoning does worry me too. You're kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Does it seem to be doing any good? You could really have THAT many rats that they're dying off, but still have enough left alive to keep the bait boxes empty. I do think if it were me I would probably switch to the stronger poison once this is gone.

How much of the current poison do you have left? Roughly how long do you expect it to last before you run out?

I agree with @21hens-incharge if you're seeing them during the day you have lots of them. I would use poison, but do be careful, and definitely use bait boxes. Rats are awful, and in my experience they're harder to get rid of than mice. Good luck. :hmm
