I think I messed up (bloody stool)

@dawg53 @azygous @Eggcessive One more question, sorry for all the pings. How long would you wait before putting them back outside? Wondering if I should I finish the antibiotics first.

I think I messed up (bloody stool)

Mostly normal poops as of this morning! Still some mucus but they are back to being formed, not liquid. I am so relieved. I truly thought she wasn't going to make it. Thank you so much to all the people who provided advice. Without it, things may have turned out much worse. I'm so grateful.

I think I messed up (bloody stool)

I think we have finally hit a turning point. Sometime late this morning she decided she was hungry and has been eating her chick starter pretty ravenously. I've had to refill the bowl multiple times and she's on top of it the instant I put it down. I know its too early to tell but I went ahead...

I think I messed up (bloody stool)

Another update. I'm growing very concerned about the weight. Just 435 grams today, down nearly 100 grams from the first weigh in. But she does seem to be feeling a little better. Poop is still liquid diarrhea but I'm not seeing nearly as much blood and as of this morning she was walking around...

Poop from the sickest just now. Doesn’t look like anything has improved for her.

I think I messed up (bloody stool)

Not great. I guess I would say no different than she has been, so no better no worse. It seems like her appetite goes up and down. For the most part she doesn't want to eat unless its the mealworms. I'm trying not to give too many because I'm sure that's pretty hard to digest. I tried offering...

I think I messed up (bloody stool)

Not sure how things are going today. She ate some yesterday, the eggs, mealworms, and even some of her regular chick starter. But she's lost a lot of weight. 532 grams on Sunday, only 470 grams today. That's a lot for a little bird to lose so quickly :(

I think I messed up (bloody stool)

Thank you, good idea. I added her back in with the others with a boiled egg, and as soon as the others went for it she did too! Ate a little bit of yolk. Progress, I hope.

I think I messed up (bloody stool)

Got the fecal done and more of the Sulphamethoxazole to treat all three. Somewhat validating, the vet said that dosing the sick one on Sunday may have saved her life. MAY have, he still felt she was pretty bad and it was probably 50/50 at this point. She hasn't been eating and is extremely thin...

I think I messed up (bloody stool)

Yes its very frustrating how hard some of these things are to get. Equally frustrating that no vet will do something simple like a fecal without seeing the bird. Which I understand somewhat, I don't expect them to give me and RX without seeing the animal, but knowing the results of a fecal...

I think I messed up (bloody stool)

We're still working on the corid treatment, yes. Started yesterday. Oral drench and in water, as only source of water. I searched around this forum and it sounds like corid can be given in tandem with the sulfa drugs? The other two chicks aren't nearly as bad off as this one, so I'm going to...

I think I messed up (bloody stool)

Thank you! The one I have indicates its for direct oral administration. Reading the instructions I was supposed to give .4ml directly to the bird it was intended for. I backed out the amount based on this chick's weight. Almost .3ml on the dot so I went ahead and gave it that directly by mouth.

Ok looking at this TMPS suspension I'm having a hard time figuring out how much is actually in here. It says "TMPS suspension pet CC quantity: 12" The recommended dose for the bird it was meant for was .4ml every 12 hours. The bird it was meant for weighted 1.5 lbs, this chick weighs 1.17lbs.

I think I messed up (bloody stool)

Things are getting worse. More blood in the stool, no interest in eating at all though it is still drinking some. Chick spends most of its time sleeping, will get up for a moment and drink, then falls back asleep. Still isolated from the others @azygous I'm tagging you because I noticed you...

I’ve isolated the sickest one. Not looking great. Drinking on its own but will not eat. Here’s what we’re dealing with stool wise:

I think I messed up (bloody stool)

The worst one finally took some food before lights out tonight. I've found a few messy stools without blood and a few that still have some blood. Not really sure what I'm going to do. Its going to rain all next week and clearly they picked up a big load from the run. But they are too big to be...

I think I messed up (bloody stool)

Realistically, if they are already at the point of pooping blood and the corid doesn't help, what are the odds they will survive long enough to get the sulfa drugs? I'll be calling the vet first thing on Monday, but these guys look pretty sad. The one pooping the most blood is very sleepy and...

I think I messed up (bloody stool)

I'll do all of this. I wanted to include that the only water they had access to was the corid water when I did the last treatment. They've been outside all day and I take them back inside into their brooder at night to sleep since I don't have a good way (yet- I'm working on it) to keep them...

I think I messed up (bloody stool)

Here I am again, having no clue why things keep going poorly. I have x3 7 week old chicks. About 2 weeks ago I started trying to integrate with my existing flock of 3 hens. A had a fecal run on the adult birds several weeks back, came back with low levels of eimeria but (per the vet who took...
