I get pumpkins this time of year and cut in half and bake them. Then I freeze them in plastic bags for the hens later in the winter when other stuff is scarce. So I think either way is ok. I put the whole halfs in the bag. Skin , seed, and flesh. I give it to them a couple of times a week...
