Gil, here's more info on pomegranate- http://www.simplyrecipes.com/m/recipes/how_to_cut_and_de_seed_a_pomegranate/
It's actually not a seed the way we typically think of seeds we use for chicken treats-rather than hard/dried, these seeds are soft and juicy fruits.
It's delicious in salads...
Great
Great idea! Sort of like a haynet for horses, which keeps my mare busy all night long so she doesn't eat her hay in 5 minutes and then stand all night without any!
I put mine on a large bolt that hangs from a chain. I need to add a washer or something to it though, because this is what happens when they get overly exuberant towards the end:
Mine were thrilled to get some sun and temps in the 20s today! Here they are with a fresh cabbage (haven't put one out in awhile since it would have been frozen rock solid given our temps the past two weeks.
Interesting- are you meaning that after Christmas, you will put your old Christmas tree out in the run for them to play around on? Never thought about that, but I like that idea. Is anything in the pine harmful to them?
Not a whole lot of new ideas to add. My husband built me this fun contraption for cabbage tetherball: http://www.communitychickens.com/2011/05/boredom-buster.html#.UmaZ0FMenNo. They do love it (hated the Halloween pumpkins I gave them though, which chickens are supposed to love, so who knows)...
