I have experienced what you've explained above when a hen had been sick, but this is just way out there.

The egg appears to be fine, a little smaller than she would have normally laid, but I checked the box she was in after I posted & she laid another, no blood this time. I am just shocked, this makes no sense to me at all, that's why I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this.
