The kids have 11 more days and I have 1 day after that. I'm thinking about teaching 7-8 grade summer school. It is from 0800-1200 M-F for up to 3 weeks, paid at my hourly rate. I taught it last summer and I kind of enjoyed it. I could really use the money too. So, how do I catch a red fox...

Deb, Sorry to hear about the fox/raccoon problem. This evening there was a red fox on top of my manure/compost pile in my one pasture. This was before dusk. Now I need to figure out how to trap the darn thing without trapping the cats.

Deb (or should I say Mom ) That was the year my mom was born. That was a good year. Mom is 55, Dad is 58. Me, 34 but the students ask if I'm in my 40's. Nope, not that much experience.

Quote: I thought you'd want to swap some Partridge Silkie eggs for some bantam Langshan.

Yup, they are feather footed but not like a Cochin. The should only have feathers on their outer toe. Sebrightmom, you have room for bantam Langshan, don't you?

I'm hoping to show them. These are from show stock. I also have bantam Black Langshan that have been shown. I'm hoping sone of their offspring are just as awesome.

Those are my Black Langshan. When fully mature the rooster should be 2 1/2 - 3 feet tall. Their first egg made it to lock down for the NYD hatch.

Great picture Deb. I've been wondering how your cat was. I'm hoping for the best. I got my BBS Ameraucanas moved today. I didn't get much else done today. I didn't feel well this morning. I do have eggs hatching so hopefully my luck is changing. Time for bed. Good night.

Yup. They lay dark eggs. Maybe your neighbor wants more ducks. I'd like some Cayugas. They are black with a green sheen. They lay black eggs too.

Here are the ducks. The 2 on the right are the parents. The 2 on the left are their 2010 hatch, both drakes. One must have the crested gene but not show it because I have had some embryo death and when I opened the egg the skull was open (a sign of the double crested gene).

Here are two pictures of the Wellies. I'll have to find pictures of the ducks. The female is a crested duck (I'm unsure of her breed but she was from Ideal). The drake is a hybrid. I have hatched fawn, blue, and chocolate offspring.

I had 82 eggs go into lock down today. I candled all the rest and put 42 in the turner that were in egg cartons but in the incubator already for 3 day into the turners. I also set 61 more eggs today. If I get my hatching issues figured out I could end up with a lot of chicks (and ducks and...
