I don't plan on going in Sept. I had a fun time, and while I didn't have other chickenstocks to compare with,
I enjoyed the time there even if it was very busy and hardly any time to "relax" with other BYC'ers.
It's just a longer trip for us, and I ended up selling many of my birds I brought at...
The others need to be edited first.
Also, @Pyxis and @pharmchickrnmom - there's photos of you I can PM to you, and you can decide if you want them posted or not.
Thanks - I thought that was the case, as I've been following the Aloha project, and they often loose quite a bit of white after molting several times. Yes, I'll post pictures as they grow. They are so sweet and docile, I was snuggling with one and it was softly "chipring" like I've had the adult...
The chicks are adorable - do they loose some of their white as they get older, as I see other colored feathers still coming in? I've never had Millie Fleur Cochin chicks before, so I'm not familiar with how they feather out.
The Momma broody is doing good. I think she's still looking for her...
Car almost all packed - hopefully I'll sell all/most of the chicks and plants, as otherwise I don't know where I'll put the hens, chicks & plants I'm bringing home!
Gotta go do "critter chores", so we can leave between 7:00 - 7:30. See you all soon!
I might have the issue of keeping the chicks warm worked out - the bantam Cochin, Confetti, that hatched out 4 SFH last week, may be temporarily "adopting" the just-hatched chicks. So far, she seems to be ok with the new chicks, and since she's small, I wouldn't mind transporting her. Plus...
@Nuttyfrom6kids - I was wondering today about the young chicks that will need heat. How's that going to work for those bringing chicks?
I have some that don't need heat any longer, but the just-hatched ones might get a little chilly, even though they're calling for 80's on Saturday.
Anyone else...
The Swedish Flower Hen chicks are $10 for the ones that will be less than on week old on Saturday;
So far that looks to be only 5 chicks - no sign of activity from the other 4 eggs.
May also bring a few older chicks, have to count / sort them 1st to know which ones I'm keeping ; $1 extra per...
Oh, just remembered - the Muscovy ducks just started laying a few days ago, so I'll bring probably 1 dozen of them.
Haven't tested fertility yet, but based on the drake's activity for the past several weeks, they should be all fertile.
Swap or $3 for 6 eggs; $5 per dozen Muscovy hatching eggs
